With the great popularity of the Battle Royale games, we recently started hearing news about some countries taking decisions against PUBG, for example last May we learned that the game was closed in China and replaced by a national game
In our Arab countries, the Iraqi parliament has taken measures to demand the banning of Fortnite and PUBG games because they incite violence and crime, and Jordan has previously had a decision obliging the military to pledge not to play PUBG during work hours.
However, it seems that sisterly Jordan decided to go further, as some players there started to complain that they are unable to communicate with the game due to the Jordanian authorities' ban on it due to the serious psychological and social consequences it entails. Soon, media sites reported the news, so some of them contacted officials there to find out if this news was true.
Where Saraya contacted Dr. Eng. Ghazi Jabour, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Telecommunications Sector Regulatory Authority, who confirmed that no circular was issued banning the game "PUBG" from Jordanians by the authority and that their responsibility is limited to issuing awareness messages to citizens.
Meanwhile, the head of the cybercrime unit in the criminal investigation, Lieutenant Colonel “Raed Al-Rawashda,” stated that the reports that the game was banned in Jordan were incorrect, indicating that no information had been received about this matter. But today, Jordan Times confirmed the news and stated that official sources told them to block the game, as they received letters of objection from many angry players who considered the decision to undermine their freedom, while the decision pleased many of the parents who supported it because they see the game as a source of distraction for their children and distancing them from their duties.
What do you think of this decision and do you support taking it in Saudi Arabia? Why?
